Lamseen – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has emphasized that any religious social organization (ormas) granted mining licenses or Special Mining Business Permit Areas (WIUPK) must adhere strictly to regulations. He also urged these organizations to avoid causing environmental damage.
“It is crucial to recognize that managing a mine involves responsibilities, such as safeguarding the environment and complying with regulations,” Ma’ruf stated in Bandung, West Java, on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
He further noted, “If other ormas wish to obtain licenses, they must meet the conditions supported by the government. It is possible to grant licenses with specific conditions.”
However, Ma’ruf clarified that not all ormas would be eligible for mining licenses. Given the large number of ormas, only those meeting certain criteria would qualify.
“Not all ormas can receive licenses; there are hundreds of ormas. There are only a limited number of mining licenses available. Prioritization will be based on specific criteria,” he emphasized.
Additionally, Ma’ruf mentioned that ormas should be prepared to face criticism if they fail to manage the mines effectively.
“Criticism will arise if the management is inadequate. We expect ormas that take on these responsibilities to adhere to proper mining management practices,” he said.
