Lamseen – PT BUMI Resources Tbk (BUMI) plays a significant role in providing affordable electricity to the people of Indonesia. It has been reported that BUMI contributes to one-sixth of the coal used by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) as an energy source.
As a result, BUMI is listed as one of the largest coal suppliers for domestic power plants in the country.

“Coal continues to play a crucial role in providing affordable electricity in Indonesia. Within this context, BUMI makes a significant contribution. Aligning with the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) for coal, which exceeds 25 percent,” stated Dileep Srivastava. Director & Corporate Secretary of BUMI, in a statement on Friday (August 30, 2024).
Through its subsidiaries, BUMI supplied approximately 21 to 22 million metric tons of coal for domestic needs in 2023. Which represents around 28 percent of the total production for that year, totaling 77.8 million metric tons.
With this figure, BUMI provides about one-sixth of the coal required by PLN to meet the country’s electricity needs.

In the first half of 2024, BUMI produced 37.7 million metric tons of coal. a 7 percent increase from the 35.4 million metric tons produced the previous year.
BUMI operates coal mining subsidiaries, including PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in East Kalimantan. PT Arutmin Indonesia (Arutmin) in South Kalimantan, and PT Pendopo Energi Batubara in South Sumatra.
