Lamseen – Indonesian authorities, in collaboration with Thai law enforcement, successfully apprehended RN, the alleged mastermind behind a sophisticated clandestine drug laboratory operating in Bali’s Badung District. Indonesian authorities placed RN on their wanted list (DPO) in May 2024 for allegedly orchestrating the illegal drug production network.
Thai National Police intercepted and arrested RN on December 19 at U-Tapao Rayong Airport as he prepared to board a flight to Dubai. This critical operation prevented RN’s escape and marked a significant breakthrough in the cross-border fight against narcotics.
Subsequently, authorities promptly extradited RN to Indonesia following his detention.. He arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) in Tangerang, Banten, on Sunday evening. The extradition underscores the strength of international cooperation in combating organized crime.
Authorities accuse RN of managing a highly organized operation that produced and distributed illicit drugs in Bali. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of RN’s network and any accomplices involved. This arrest highlights the Indonesian government’s intensified efforts to crack down on narcotics operations and safeguard public safety.

Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa, Director of Drug Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, announced that Indonesian authorities extradited RN, the alleged mastermind behind a clandestine drug laboratory in Bali, after he had lived in Bangkok for three and a half months.
During a press conference on Sunday, Juharsa explained that intensive coordination between the Indonesian Police Attaché in Bangkok and Thai authorities facilitated RN’s return. “Based on shared intelligence, our attaché worked closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the suspect was extradited swiftly,” he said.
Thai authorities handed over RN to Indonesian law enforcement officials, who immediately transported him back to Indonesia to face legal proceedings under national law.
According to Juharsa, RN meticulously orchestrated the drug lab operation within a villa located in the Tibubeneng area of Badung District, Bali. Furthermore, he financed the entire operation and subsequently transformed the villa’s basement into a fully functional laboratory. In addition, he managed logistics by directly supervising a network of couriers, many of whom authorities had already arrested earlier.
Indonesian authorities have confirmed plans to deepen their investigation and legal proceedings against RN, the alleged mastermind behind a clandestine drug laboratory in Bali. Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa, Director of Drug Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, further revealed that RN could potentially face severe penalties. Specifically, these include the death penalty, life imprisonment, or alternatively, a fine of Rp10 billion (approximately USD $596,000). Moreover, these penalties underscore the gravity of his alleged crimes and highlight Indonesia’s strict stance on drug-related offenses.
In May 2024, the Directorate of Drug Crimes apprehended three foreign nationals who were directly involved in operating the drug lab. The suspects had leased a villa in the Tibubeneng area of Badung District, Bali, for a lengthy term of 24 years and 8 months. They then transformed the villa into a sophisticated laboratory that served the Indonesian Hydra network, producing hydroponic marijuana and mephedrone.
Juharsa emphasized that RN played a critical role in the network, financing the lab, securing the necessary equipment, and overseeing its operations, including managing couriers. “This case represents a significant breakthrough in our fight against organized drug production and trafficking,” Juharsa said.
